What this is

The Plum Parlor is a personal project by HEYiGUY: artist, designer, developer, and person who tells AI to write questionable code until something interesting happens.

It blends conversational AI, BaZi-inspired chart reading, and private saved sessions into something part tool, part parlor trick, and part digital artifact.

Why it exists

This was built as a small room on the internet: quiet, strange, useful, and a little theatrical. Auntie Chen is here to make the experience feel less like filling out a form and more like sitting down for tea with someone who has notes.

What this is

The Plum Parlor generates a personalized Chinese astrology (BaZi) reading using birth details you provide, delivered through a chat conversation with "Auntie Chen." This is a small, independently run project, not a company or a commercial service.

No accounts

There is no login. Each visit is identified only by a private, hard-to-guess link. Anyone who has that link can open the conversation and reading it contains — treat it the way you would an unlisted document, and don't share it if you'd rather keep it private.

What is collected

  • Birth details you provide: a name to be addressed by, birth date, birth time (if known), birth city, and a male/female designation, which the chart calculation method requires as an input and is not used for anything beyond that.
  • If you request a compatibility reading, the same details for a second person.
  • The text of your conversation.
  • A hashed version of your IP address, used only to limit abuse (rate limiting), not to identify you.

How it's used

  • Birth details are sent to FreeAstroAPI, a third-party astrology calculation service, to compute the chart.
  • Birth details and conversation text are sent to DeepSeek, a third-party AI provider, to generate Auntie Chen's responses.
  • Nothing is sold, and nothing is used for advertising.

Retention

You can delete your reading data from the reading room at any time. If a reading room goes unused for 90 days, its data is automatically deleted from the active database as well. Cloudflare's underlying database backups may retain a deleted copy for a short period afterward before it is fully purged.

Cloudflare Turnstile

This site uses Cloudflare Turnstile to help prevent automated abuse before a reading session is created. Turnstile may collect information such as IP address, browser and device signals, and how you interact with the page. Other infrastructure

The site itself, its database, and its rate-limiting are hosted on Cloudflare. No data is knowingly transferred anywhere beyond Cloudflare, FreeAstroAPI, and DeepSeek, each used solely to operate this site.
